St. Catherine Monastery and Mount Sinai.

The opposite also happened. Places acquired extraordinary dimensions by the facts or legends that took place on them . Some sites combine both, perfect beauty and connection with events told by the great traditions. Mount Sinai is one of them. Located on the Sinai desert and part of the abrupt mountains that rise more than 2 000 m above the Red Sea, Mount Sinai is the place where according to Jewish, Christian and Muslim traditions Moses received the 10 commandments. At the foot of Mount Sinai is St Catherine Monastery, perhaps the oldest working Christian monastery. Site of pilgrimage for centuries, the monastery has one of the richest collections of ancient icons and manuscripts in the world. Past and present, spectacular nature and living traditions make Mount Sinai and St Catherine Monastery one of the Middle East unmissable destinations.

Tour Plan 1
We start the tour at 22:00 pm from the hotels in Eilat. There is an assisted border crossing. Meeting in the Egyptian side with our representative. Drive through the Sinai desert. Break with coffee or tea and begin the climb of Mount Sinai. Sunrise at the top with a breathtaking panoramic view of the desert. Climb down following a different route and visit to St. Catherine Monastery. The monastery is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Drive towards Nuweiba. We have lunch. Drive through the beautiful coast of Sinai with its turquoise water, across the Red Sea we can see Saudi Arabia and Jordan. We are back at the border and have a transfer back to the hotels.
